At 14:09 on Thursday, 26 January, 2017, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as Animal Rescue in Highley.

4 fire appliances were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Cleobury Mortimer and Wellington.

One dog rescued from disused mine shaft. Crews (including the specialist animal rescue team) used rope rescue and harness to reach the dog who was given pet oxygen therapy. other equipment in use included small gear, snake eye camera, BA and dragon lights. The dog was a little cold and shocked but otherwise unhurt.
